Christmas in Madrid, New Mexico

Ruidoso Festival of Lights

Southeast region of New MexicoThe snow falling on Sierra Blanca mountains should put you in the spirit of the holidays and get you geared up for some Christmas shopping! Join the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce at the opening event of the annual Festival of Lights celebration this weekend with the Greeters Christmas Jubilee at the Convention Center. Midtown will be lit up by Thanksgiving weekend thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department. And we hope Ski Apache opens November 27 thanks to Mother Nature!

Be amazed by the Treasures of Sierra Blanca Art Show at River Crossing. And be entertained by the special effects and puppetry of the Snow Queen production by Lincoln County Community Theater. Of course, there will be parties galore—at the Lodge at Sierra Blanca and the Inn of the Mountain Gods.

Mark your calendars for the Parade of Lights on December 6 at 5:30. Make the day an event, with shopping at our Midtown stores before the parade, and hot chocolate, music and a bonfire at River Crossing after the parade. The Annual Lighting of the Tree at Schoolhouse Park is December 4th and the ENMU Choir Sing A Long happens after the December 7th show of Snow Queen.

New this year is the Gingerbread House Competition by Inn of the Mountain Gods. Entries can be made December 1-5 with judging on December 11th-- the same night as the Festival Gala Reception also at the Inn. The Gala Reception, open to everyone, is a time to honor our winners—winners of the Gingerbread Competition, winners of the Parade of Lights and our winning community sponsors. Don’t miss the food, fun, and sparkles of this festive event. Call the Inn of the Mountain Gods to purchase your ticket.
