Winterfest in Los Alamos, New Mexico

Winterfest

North central region of New MexicoLos Alamos comes alive with the holiday spirit November 30-December 2, when the hectic and sometimes chaotic rush that comes with the holidays subsides for one magical weekend and locals and visitors alike celebrate WinterFest.

“New Mexico is its people, doing positive things for their communities, for their culture, for their friends and for themselves,” said Michael Cerletti, Secretary of the New Mexico Tourism Department. “Los Alamos offers a weekend of unique family fun. We encourage their friends and neighbors to stop by.”

WinterFest celebrates the holidays with arts, crafts and music, highlighted by the Holiday Light Parade, when the lights through the middle of town are turned off and the glow from lights on decorated floats and automobiles illuminate the faces of spectators. The parade is followed by community singing around Ashley Pond as the holiday tree is lit.
