Pojoaque Community

Northcentral Region of New MexicoPojoaque and Pojoaque Pueblo are neighboring communities. Pojoaque Pueblo is an Indian Reservation, and the town of Pojoaque is a collection of communities near the Pueblo with people from various ethnic backgrounds.

The modern town of Pojoaque lies in the Pojoaque River Valley approximately 15 miles north of Santa Fe on highway 285 about halfway between Santa Fe and Española. The town itself is unincorporated but a traveler will find a visitor center, gas stations and supermarket, the deli counter at the grocery store features a variety of home made local dishes that you shouldn't miss. There is also a full service trailer / RV park and some family owned restaurants along with a number of conveniance stores and other amenities.

The Buffalo Thunder Resort is just at the southern edge of this small community. The Poeh Center and Museum is located in the center of town. The interchange at 285 and 504 will take you to Los Alamos and at 503 will go to the villages of Nambé, Nambé Pueblo, Chimayo, Truches, Trampas, Penasco and on to Taos. This is the beginning of the High Road to Taos making Pojoaque the cross roads of the Española Valley.

Pojoaque Pueblo opened their new Buffalo Thunder resort in August 2008, New Mexico's largest and most expensive resort.

The Pueblo also operates the Cities of Gold Casino and Hotel just past the town center.
